EM European Conference 2004 AMSTERDAM, September 18 - 20 (Sat-Mon), 2004. EM Hawaii presenter for U.S.A (North America Continent) Abstract The technology of Effective Microorganisms was introduced into Hawaii in the mid 1990's. The expansion of EM projects started in 1997 after it was approved for production and distribution in the state of Hawaii. One of the first projects involving EM Technology was the Honolulu Zoo with the cooperation of the Zoo's assistant director in December 1997. This popular destination for tourist and locals continues to incorporate EM Technology as part of their program to improve the conditions for the zoo staff and animals. They have shared their EM experience at several conferences and with other zoological gardens around the world. EM has reduced odor complaints, time to recycle animal manure to compost, algae growth inn the exhibit pools and the cost for using harmful chemicals for this purpose.
