If stored properly and kept airtight, EM can last long after the expiration date and will not harm plants or drains if disposed of after the date. Test the smell and pH of the EM-1® to know if it is still viable. It should have a sweet, fermented smell and a pH of 3.5 or below.

As long as you reapply the EM-1® weekly, you will replenish the good microorganisms, thereby enhancing the soil’s ecosystem. You will notice, after consistent use of EM-1®, that you will be able to reduce the use of weed killers, pesticides, and other chemicals.
